To celebrate Melissa’s 30th birthday, we swam from Alcatraz back to land. With the ebb, I ended up at Coghlan beach and a few others ended up even farther west. It took about 57min, a little slow, but it was a gorgeous day with amazing visibility and glassy water.

During our swim, we had a harbor seal escorting us for part of the way: following not too far away, and in a super playful manner. Our pilot Kelley caught a picture of it jumping out of the water doing a flip.
