With about two weeks left before the Great Saunter, Alex suggested we do one last training walk. Building on walks we did together like the Crosstown Trail, Ferry-to-Ferry and the Double Cross Trail, we decided to try the newest (since October 2025) trail, the Roundabout. Well, not the entire thing, but a solid portion of it.
I loaded up some CineStill 50d, the 50mm lens, and off we went! This was new film stock, and just like with the neon on Fillmore, there are a few red halation artifacts. They’re much more subtle. I love this slow film because I got to shoot with a wider aperture and get some nice, shallow depth of field in a lot of these shots.

Path
We anchored our walk with a few snacks and treats. We started at Andytown on Taraval for coffee/tea. Then we made our way north, made a quick stop at Ocean Beach Cafe where I got a cava drink and Paul got a sando, then we cut in a few blocks to The Laundromat for some truly incredible fresh bagels. Then we made out way back out to the coast, followed the Land’s End trail, went through the Presidio, and cut into the Marina to stop at Super Mensch where we had ordered some lattkes ahead of time (they were okay). Then we followed along the waterfront, stopping in at the Fisherman’s Wharf Taco Bell Cantina, and continued along the Embarcadero, behind the ballpark down into Mission Bay and the Dogpatch. We did a little out-and-back and finished at Spark Social to meet for a friend’s birthday gathering.
This was great compared to the other routes, because it was high mileage but low elevation. My watch reported 20.08mi, 43,070 steps in 6hr41min moving time (8hr34min total time).
I think we are ready for the Great Saunter!
