I started this roll last weekend while I was in Seattle. I got maybe five shots into this roll of T-Max 100 and had an “oh shit” moment, when I realized I had left my lightmeter app at ISO 250 (instead of 100). The 250 was left over from my previous roll, the ECN-2 250D one.
With over thirty shots left on the roll, I had to make a decision. Either I basically throw out the first five shots and fix my metering, or I continue down this path and have the lab push the roll when I get it developed.
I recalled something I heard on a date once: “never half-ass a bad idea.” So in the spirit of not half-assing this, and also trying something new, I decided to push this roll.
A few things were in my favor here: pushing makes things granier, but luckily T-Max 100 is one of the smoothest film stocks there is, and T-Max 100 is black and white, which is much more forgiving when pushed.
There were a few gems in this roll, and quite a few duds. But, I’m glad I gave it a shot and will remember to triple check the ISO next time, or use the Sunny 16 rule to use my brain a bit more.
