Yesterday was my travel day. I left SF on Sunday around 5pm local time and got to Dublin the next morning.
I intended to start the trip with a nice, relaxed few hours in airport lounge, grab some good food and maybe a cocktail or two, so I got to the airport about 3 hours early.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go that smoothly. I checked my big bag. Still holding my ticket passport, I walked to airport security. Once I got to the metal detector, I reached in my front pocket to take my wallet out…and realized it was not there. Or in my bags. I had left my wallet at home. I double-checked my bag on the other side of the metal detector.
I did a quick mental inventory and realized I had probably left my wallet on the shelf near my door at home. With an hour and a half until boarding, I decided to run home and check, so I exited the airport, hailed an Uber and made a roundtrip home.
Luckily my wallet was exactly where I hoped it would be, so I grabbed it, hopped back in the Uber and went through airport security again. I didn’t get to be an airport lounge lizard, but I did make my flight.
Once in Dublin, I rented a car and drove up north. I stopped by the HQ for Infinity Channel Swimming to have a quick chat about my swim plans, and then continued to Donaghadee, where I’m staying for this part of the trip.
