Stonehenge at the Summer Solstice

We had a chance to drive to Stonehenge for the solstice before my swim! It was such a clear evening/morning and the sunrise was spectacular. According to locals, this was a great solstice to attend: there wasn’t any rain or fog, just a glorious day.

Stonehenge was basically built for the solstice, at both the summer and winter solstices, the sun and the stones line up just right so that the sun peaks right through. This helped early cultures in England track the year.

It was extremely fortuitous that we were able to visit for this event.
