Loreto Swim Camp Day 2

Again, Andrew was kind enough to lend me his watch for day 2 of Loreto Swim Camp!

The plan: a solid 4-hour training swim from the tippity top to the tippity bottom of Isla Danzante.

The result: 3 hours in, the boat’s motor had an issue so the boat stopped. Katie, who was riding with the pilot, waved a red flag to let us know something was wrong. Jon and I were swimming next to each other, he saw that something was wrong and let me know. We called ahead to our friends, who didn’t hear us at first. I sprinted ahead to catch them, and then in the meantime, they did eventually hear Jon. We all circled back to the boat.

Just before the boat broke down, we saw a medium-sized pod of dolphins hanging out nearby. They mostly hung around while we went back to the boat to wait to get a tow.

A broken boat is never a good way to end a swim, but luckily everybody was safe and unharmed, and we had plenty of food to tide us over wheile we got towed to shore.
