Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz to Bay Bridge

It was the first clear, sunny day in a while! I got to tag along with the ASSes on a special swim! We jumped in the middle of a ton of fog at the Golden Gate Bridge, then got pushed by a ripping flood to Alcatraz. By the time we got to the island, visibility was much improved! We could see the whole bay!

Our goal was to touch the south side of the island and then head south for the Bay Bridge, however we aimed slightly off and ended up on the north side. The “river” of water around the island is too strong to swim across easily, so we got repositioned in the boat to the south side (hence the disjoint path).

From there, it was a straightforward swim to the Bay Bridge. We aimed for Charlie Tower, the middle concrete piling of the bridge and ended up right there.
