Before my move to DC, Kelley organized a Farewell Alcatraz swim! Joe Butler piloted Kelley, Brian, Kim, Cameron, Cameron’s brother-in-law and me on Thursday morning. We took it slow and there was a strong Ebb, so we went pretty far East.

I got back in the boat after about 55min (where I stopped my watch). As you can see from the map, we still had a ways to go. At the 1.5hr mark, the remaining swimmers made it to the X buoy near the SF yacht harbor. I jumped back in the water and….we took a selfie.

Afterwards we celebrated with some cake and bubbles. It was an amazing way to say goodbye.
